Sail BRUGGE Tall ship's Cutty Shark Race

Sail Brugge 2002

020810 Sail Brugge

Under the heading "Sail Brugge 2002" the port of Bruges-Zeebrugge received the tall sailing ships for the fourth time. To this purpose the Port Authority closely cooperated with the Belgian Navy and the City of Bruges, elected "Cultural Capital of Europe 2002". The International Sail Training Association (ISTA) acted as adviser.

In 2002 two Tall Ship's Races took place, one starting from the Mediterranean, Alicante, and the other one from Brest. Both races joined in Santander in order to set sail for Portsmouth, where the Tall Ship's Race drawed to a close. Immediately afterwards the sailing ships set course for the Port of Zeebrugge, where they arrived on Wednesday 21 August 2002.

The sailing ships moored in the Northern Inlet dock, where they received visitors for four days. They then left Zeebrugge on Sunday 25 August giving a parade af sail along the coast of Knokke-Heist. Lien vers la Source
